Good Stone Fences Make Good Neighbors
The Stone Fence is another drink that dates back to colonial times but should be thoroughly enjoyed today. Since it is such a historic drink there are a lot of variations on how to put one together but all the recipes are a distilled spirit and an apple drink mixture of some sort. If you have the apples to freeze your own applejack by all means use that but otherwise you can any dark liquor such as Rye, Rum or Bourbon. A muddled apple can be joined by a cherry or other fruits such as the plum I used, peaches or apricots.
- 2 oz Bourbon
- Hard Cider
- Apple with other fruits optional
- 1 tsp Sugar
- Ice
Cut off a few chunks of fruit then place them, the sugar, and the bourbon in your shaker. Muddle thoroughly then add ice and shake until the mixture is cool. Fill your glass with ice then pour your strained mixture in. Top your glass with the hard cider then garnish with an apple wedge. Yum.
